City Streets
NORTH HEFNER ROAD City of Oklahoma City
Triad prepared final construction plans for improvements to Hefner Road between Kelley Avenue and Eastern Avenue with intersection improvements at Kelley and Hefner. Street improvements north and south of Hefner Road were necessary to accommodate the traffic signal at the intersection. Improvements to Hefner Road included rebuilding the existing 2-lane roadway to a 4-lane curb and gutter facility with drainage improvements and a sidewalk on the south side of Hefner Road. The design allows for the installation of a future sidewalk on the north side of Hefner. The project is part of the General Obligation Bond program for street improvements by the City of Oklahoma City. Contractor: Atlas Paving Company.
S.E. 6th STREET IMPROVEMENTS OKC Boathouse Foundation & City of Oklahoma City
Among Triad’s many projects along the Oklahoma River were contracts for S.E. 6th Street improvements north of the Boathouse District. Triad designed approximately 310 linear feet of 6th Street as a 3-lane roadway and an expanded parking lot with associated storm sewer for access to the boathouses. In a later contract, Triad extended 6th Street between Durland Street and Phillip Street, adding a traffic circle with customized pedestal to showcase “Compass Rose”, a sculpture by Owen Morrell. The public art piece, commissioned by Leadership OKC and the Inasmuch Foundation, was installed within North Circle Drive. Contractor: Shell Construction Co.
PORTLAND AVENUE REALIGNMENT City of Oklahoma City
Triad’s Municipal Team collaborated with Johnson & Associates to design contiguous Paving and Water Projects for Portland Avenue for the OKC Public Works Department, the OKC Department of Airports, and the OKC Water Utilities Trust (OCWUT). The combined project is the continuation of the OKC Airport Trust Master Development Plan. Triad designed the south portion of the projects, SW 104th Street to SW 74th Street; J&A was assigned the north end, from SW 74th Street to SW 54th Street.
The old 2-lane Portland road had ditches, no shoulders, no curb & gutter, no sidewalks, and no signalization at the intersections of SW 104th or SW 89th. Portland Avenue was realigned as a 4-lane curb and gutter roadway with a 20’ median between the SW 74th and SW 89th Street intersections. Due to the road’s industrial nature and anticipated truck loads, the pavement sections are Portland Cement concrete. The road includes sidewalks west of the alignment, drainage and storm sewer and is enhanced with esplanade lighting and landscaping. A proposed 12’ wide trail was designed to parallel the realigned Portland Road and follow the OKC Trail Master Plan. Contractor: TTK Construction Co., Inc.
