NW 150TH STREET FROM PORTLAND TO MAY
City of Oklahoma City
Triad is redesigning Oklahoma City's NW 150th Street from just east of Portland
Avenue (SH 74) to just west of May Avenue. As it exists, the 2-lane roadway with
ditches, no shoulders, sidewalks or curb and gutter is notably insufficient for
existing and projected traffic volumes. The roadway must support increasing traffic
from Quail Springs Mall and bordering commercial and private development in the
City's rapidly developing northwest side.
Triad's proposed upgrades include rebuilding the roadway to a 40 mph 4-lane curb
and gutter facility with sidewalks, retaining wall and a reinforced concrete bridge
box. Initially, the project must transition from the existing two lanes to four
until the completion of an ODOT / Triad road project at SH 74 and NW 150th.
The NW 150th Street project for the City of Oklahoma City is funded under the Federal
Surface Transportation Fund for Urban Areas with contract documents meeting current
ODOT and AASHTO specifications. Triad prepared a preliminary Design Report, alignment
studies, conducted a public meeting, and is coordinating environmental studies of
wetlands, endangered biology, and noise barriers. Hydraulics, right-of-way acquisition,
and utility and water line relocations are included in the contract.
