CHISHOLM TRAIL PARK
CITY OF YUKON
ODOT
Three park enhancement projects were designed by Triad for Yukon's signature Chisholm Trail Park, distinctive for its boot-shaped walking trail clearly visible from the air. Two ponds connecting to the existing lake were added with a re-circulating pump station to move water flow from lower to upper reservoir. The water features included fountains for aeration as well as aesthetics. Native plantings, bordering flower beds, and brick walkway bridges were design elements used in the accompanying landscape plan.
A separate project added more greenscaped sidewalks to link to the existing pathways and an ODOT contract added ADA compliant Pedestrian Facilities to the Kathyryn Kroutil Wright Chisholm Trail Park and Freedom Trail Park. Triad's detailed ADA improvements included concrete sidewalks, replacement of bridge decking and handrails, the addition of ramps with detectible warning device, and crosswalk striping. The park bears the name of the wife of Yukon philanthropist Clarence Wright, Jr., who donated the 50 acres for Chisholm Trail Park. The beautification and extended participation in the City's public park system reflect the couple's intent to provide a "passive park" to improve Yukon's quality of life.
