SW 15th STREET

CITY OF OKLAHOMA CITY

Phase I Portland to Meridian Phase II SW 15th & Meridian Intersection Phase II
State Highway 74

Triad provided design and construction services for two phases of new 52' roadway on Oklahoma City's SW 15th Street between MacArthur Avenue and Portland Avenue. Located in the floodway of the North Canadian River, SW 15th parallels the Oklahoma River Development on the south side, accessing the Meridian Hotel and River Corridors. Now complete, the street has become a mainline for tourism with the SW 15th and Meridian Intersection at its crossroad. Just east is Meridian Landing, a boarding area for River Cruisers connecting to the Regatta Park Landing and OKC's Downtown and Bricktown entertainment districts. It's also a recreational access point for bikers, skaters, runners, and walkers taking advantage of the scenic Oklahoma River Trails.

The Phase I segment of SW 15th, Portland to Meridian, was designed over an abandoned landfill and required dynamic compaction to eliminate differential settlement. It was awarded the National Award for Excellence by the Oklahoma-Arkansas Chapter of American Concrete Pavement Association.

Phase II, Meridian to MacArthur, crossed Tributaries 12 and 13 of the North Canadian River and included a three span, PC-Beam bridge (50'-60'-50') with drilled piers and abutments anchored with driven sheet pile. Plans included hydrologic and FEMA studies, drainage system, signalization, and bridge design.
